The KlaasKids Foundation was established in 1994 to give meaning to the death of twelve-year-old kidnap and murder victim Polly Hannah Klaas and to create a legacy in her name that would be protective of children for generations to come. The Foundation’s mission is to stop crimes against children; Polly’s father, Marc Klaas, created KlaasKids to help educate parents and caregivers about the potential dangers many children may encounter, teach them how to best protect their children from abduction by predators, and provide them with the necessary tools in the event of an abduction.

For nearly 20 years, the Mungenast Automotive Family has developed a strong, collaborative business relationship with The KlaasKids Foundation by hosting the KlaasKid’s signature child safety event, the Print-A-Thon, within their automotive dealerships across the Greater St. Louis region. This high-energy child safety event uses state-of-the-art technology to fingerprint and photograph children and provides parents with DNA collection kits, pro-active child safety information, and a nine-point plan on what to do if their child disappears.

Historically, the Kirkwood-Oakland Day Out has provided parents with up-to-date photographs of their children to have on record in case of abduction, so the addition of the KlaasKids Foundation’s fingerprinting technology, DNA kits, and informational materials to this year’s event is particularly exciting. We’re honored and humbled to announce that KlaasKids founder Mark Klaas and his wife will personally fly in for the event to help fingerprint children themselves. This will be an incredible opportunity to connect with your community and your family while taking proactive steps to ensure your children’s safe and happy future.
